Be Prepared for the Upcoming Transition to TaxWise
As part of our ongoing determination to provide tax preparers with the best in class solutions, Wolters Kluwer will be migrating all existing Refunds Today customers to TaxWise. To help you understand what this transition will mean for you and what to expect, we've put together this list of frequently asked questions.
General FAQs
Why is my Refunds Today package changing?
The TaxWise team is moving to consolidate our platforms to focus on providing the best tax prep solutions for all our TaxWise customers. After moving to the TaxWise environment, you will still use the TaxWise software that you've been accustomed to. In addition, you will also gain access to all of the services which our TaxWise customers currently use to make their business successful. These include:
- TaxWise Solution Center
- TaxWise Insiders - Take your tax prep business to the next level, earn rewards, and connect with other tax preparers through our customer loyalty program
- Access to add-ons like Textellent®, Protection Plus, TaxWise® Mobile, Versicom, and TheTaxBook
What is happening to the Refunds Today name?
The Refunds Today name will be removed and will become a part of the TaxWise ecosystem.
What does this mean for me?
Your TaxWise software will remain the same. Your current package/plan will be modified from an e-file fee-based model to a return creation fee model.
When will this take effect?
Your new TaxWise packages will be effective as part of the 2024 tax season which begins Nov. 30, 2024.
I’m in the middle of the 2023 Tax Season. Are you changing things on me right now?
No changes will occur to your packages during the 2023 tax season.
Will my software be changing?
While the Refunds Today brand will be removed, your software will not change. You will still be using the same TaxWise software that you currently use.
Is my representative changing?
No. The same rep you have come to work with will still be here to help you with your switch to the TaxWise platform.
How do I contact sales?
Your contact emails/numbers for sales will remain the same. They can be reached via email at RT.Sales@wolterskluwer.com or by phone at 877-334-5366.
Will I still need to complete Office Information Request (OIR)?
No. As part of your transition to TaxWise, you will no longer need to complete the office information request. For additional information regarding Bank Enrollment, please visit our knowledge base article here.

Are my prices going up?
The new software packages closely model the former Refunds Today packages. There will be a slight year over year increase, but prices will be in line with what you are paying today.
Is the free software option still available?
The free software option is being phased with the 2024 season. For the 2023 season, free software qualification is still available and free software discount will be applied to 2024 packages.
I received a renewal notice, and my Refunds Today (TaxWise) package has been changed. Why am I in this TaxWise package?
As part of the transition, we created new TaxWise packages which closely model the Refunds Today package you were in this past season.
Can I change my TaxWise Package?
Absolutely. You pick the package that works best for you. Please contact your sales representative to discuss which plan works best for you and your business.
Will I have access to my prior year returns?
Yes, you will still have access to your prior returns.
Training FAQs
What will happen with National Tax School?
You will still be able to sign up for course via the National Tax School.
Will I still have access to GetWise?
You will still have access to our annual GetWise conference, in-person or virtual. As part of the transition, you will receive two virtual passes for free.
Do I still have access to CPE/CTEC courses?
Yes. As a TaxWise customer, you will still have access to the CPE/CTEC courses you have become accustomed to.
